Light of Strategy

Light of Strategy is a handcrafted chessboard created from natural olive wood and epoxy resin, with an integrated multicolor LED lighting system.

Each wooden square is individually made from olive wood, allowing its natural grain to create a unique pattern across the board. The entire composition is surrounded by a solid olive wood frame and encapsulated beneath a layer of high-gloss transparent resin.

The Story Behind Light of Strategy

The idea behind this piece was to combine one of the world’s most timeless games with natural wood and modern light.

During the day, olive wood becomes the main element of the composition. Its irregular grain, natural contrasts, and variations between individual squares ensure that the board never has the uniform appearance of a mass-produced object.

When the lighting is switched on, the character of the piece changes completely. Light passes through the illuminated squares and surrounds the board, creating a striking effect that makes it possible to play even in complete darkness.

The integrated LED system offers thousands of combinations of colors, effects, and lighting modes. The illumination can be controlled using the included remote control or through an app. Power is supplied through a standard USB connection.

The USB port is discreetly integrated into the wooden frame. When the cable is disconnected, no wiring remains visible, allowing the chessboard to be placed and displayed anywhere as a standalone object.

Every element — from shaping the wood and creating the chessboard, through the resin work, to installing and integrating the LED and USB systems — was completed by hand.
