Wood Line – Broken Colors

Broken Colors is a handcrafted wall clock created from naturally cracked olive wood, black epoxy resin, and colorful pencil fragments.

The distinctive grain, cracks, and irregular edges of the olive wood remain clearly visible, while the deep black resin fills the spaces between the wooden sections and emphasizes the natural fractures running through the composition.

The Story Behind Broken Colors

This piece began with the cracks already present in the olive wood.

Instead of hiding or removing them, they became the foundation of the design. The separated sections of wood are visually connected by colorful pencil fragments placed across the cracks, almost like small bridges joining the broken pieces together.

Each pencil introduces a different burst of color, creating a strong contrast with the warm tones and expressive grain of the olive wood. The black resin between the wooden fragments further emphasizes this contrast and gives the composition additional depth.

The idea behind Broken Colors is simple: something can remain visibly broken and still become whole again. The cracks are not erased — they become part of the story, while color creates the connection between them.

The entire composition — including the olive wood, colorful pencil fragments, and white numerals — is encapsulated in transparent resin, creating a unified surface with remarkable depth and a glossy finish.
